Furnace Transformers

Furnace transformers operate under severe conditions due to frequent overcurrent caused by the short circuits in the furnace and due to overvoltage caused by operating of circuit breakers.

The challenges in the transformer design is a combination of high current and low voltages. Furnace transformers are usually equipped with on-load voltage regulation for operating of the furnace at different stages of the process.

The mechanical design of the transformer is usually made to fit the space limitations on site and the LV bushing arrangement to fit the interconnections to the furnace. The cooling is typically made with forced water cooling (OFWF) since the transformers in most of the cases are located close to the furnace due to high current on transformer secondary side.

Our furnace transformer can be either of shell or core type design.
